Rolling hills in small watershed of mixed forest. Site colocated with Harvard Forest long term ecological experiment including eddy covariance tower and other sensors. Soils contain thick organic layer, 10 cm, with underlying silty sands, black and yellow in color. In addition, lots of stones and cobbles present. Site is glacial till with deep soils. Water table is pretty shallow, tens of feet, and highly variable with a few springs occurring near the site. During calibration we found fully saturated areas with water tables only a few centimeters deep. http://ameriflux.ornl.gov/fullsiteinfo.php?sid=50
