COSMOS Probe Confidence Interval Calculator

The intensity of secondary cosmic ray neutrons varies in space because of the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field. This calculator predicts uncerainties on COSMOS probe estimated soil moisture based on the location of the probe. Required inputs are latitude, longitude, elevation and integration time.

Site Latitude:            (-90° → 90°)

Site Longitude:         (-180° → 180°)

Site Elevation:          (m above sea level)

Integration Time:     (hr)

Note: Calculations use algorithms from Smart and Shea (2001), Desilets and Zreda (2003) and Desilets et al. (2010) and will take a while. Please be patient.
